eee PC 1000...
I bought this netbook primarily due to its rated 9.5 hour battery life. I have yet to run the battery down that far, and I prefer to run the computer on the battery saver mode anyway because it strains the eyes less(not as bright). Meets my expectations.

I connected the eeePC to a wireless network with my desktop PC. I installed some programs by mapping drives. The eeePC doesn't have optical drives, so this can be a handy feature if you also have a desktop at home. The GPS mapping program I installed seemed to run well, with little noticeable slowdown. I don't really see the need to install the extra 1GB memory at this point, the stock computer seems sufficient for my needs.

Fingerprints are noticeable on the computer, but who cares. You shouldn't be buying a computer for looks. Besides, it comes with a handy cloth for safely wiping off any fingerprints and smudges.

And the weight. Not too bad at 3.2 pounds. It feels pretty durable and I like that. Also, the external battery is a big plus compared to some internal battery models. This way, if the battery dies you can switch it out without sending the whole computer back. I've been happy so far and I think that this little package offers a lot for its price.

Battery Life is key in a Netbook and its great with this computer...The freedom that these smaller devices give you is great but often people never use these netbooks or UMPC's as intended because they are afraid they will run out of battery on the road, in the other room or even surfing the web in bed.

If I have to think about taking a large power adapter with me or being tethered to an outlet or large power source, then I may as well take along my 15 inch or a larger computer.

I'm willing to compromise to a smaller screen and slower performance on a smaller netbook device if the battery life delivers.

It delivers well and the battery life is great on this computer.

The machine gives you an honest 7 hours of fairly heavy use. The battery is swappable if you want even more time on the road, the hard drive and ram are very easily upgraded, the keyboard is perfectly acceptable and the overall form factor in 10" is great. The multi touch trackpad is awesome, led lit screen is great, the included notebook case/sleeve is nice, nothing really bad to say about the computer.

Some may say it is a tiny bit larger than your standard 10" netbook (due to the battery), specially compared to some of the newer form factor ultra thin ones, but where 1000HE shines and gets the job done is with it's battery life and ultra easy access to the HD and ram areas and of course the swappable battery.

Great bail out bag computer. The true netbook experience and freedom can only really come with a computer that gives you 7 honest hours of use with no wires attached (and even longer battery life depending on how you work).
